Opposed Orders FULL

9 to 1 both days PLUS preparation time afternoon of day 1

Virtual by Microsoft Teams

Course FULL. You can add yourself to the waiting list/repeat request. If we know there is demand, the course can repeat.

Dealing with opposed modification or public path orders can be a resource-hungry process. Setting up from the first report on the application eases the whole process considerably. This course covers the process from objection received to preparation for an Inquiry, Hearing or Written Representations including submission to PINS, writing a Statement of Case and Proof of Evidence.

Main topics

  • Drawing the line on withdrawal of objections
  • Planningn and preparation for submission to PINS
  • Writing a Statement of Grounds, Statement of Case, and Proof of Evidence
  • Managing evidence bundles

Learning outcomes

  • Understanding of the process of an opposed order and its timeline
  • Recognition of resources needed and how to reduce demand
  • Familiarity with the documents required, their structure, strengths and weaknesses
  • Appreciation of how to write documents for submission

Preparation Time Required

The course will close at 1p.m on day 1 but there will be a task to complete before day 2 so participants are strongly recommended to allocate all of day 1 to the course.

Intermediate. The course is designed for council officers with knowledge of the order process, perhaps approaching submission of their first opposed order.
