Regional Development Day at The Calvert Trust 

Regional events are an opportunity to network with colleagues, discuss issues and to share practice and experience, this is not a training course so please be prepared to bring your own examples to contribute and raise your own points for discussion.

Outline of the day focusing on accessibility and inclusive access:

10:00 – 11:00
Presentation on accessibility, inclusive access, and how carriage driving can provide access to the Public Rights of Way network for people who may otherwise be excluded.

11:00 – 12:30
Practical wheelchair session, giving participants the opportunity to try different types of wheelchairs over ramps and varying surfaces to gain first-hand experience of some of the challenges faced by disabled users.

12:30 – 13:30
Lunch (including travel between the main centre and the stables – approximately 10 minutes).

13:30 – 15:30
Carriage driving demonstration, including loading wheelchair users into the carriage, exploring carriage manoeuvrability and turning circles, and discussing the practical challenges posed by gates, barriers and other infrastructure on access routes.

15:30 – 16:00
Wrap-up, discussion, questions and networking.
