2026 represents 40 years of IPROW and some of you have been members from the start. We are marking the occasion with a variety of awards, to be presented at the Annual Update in October, and requesting nominations now. Who or what would you like to see recognised for achievement?
Active Travel England Rural Design Guide
Active Travel England has published its Rural Design Guide, “giving local authorities practical advice on how to plan and deliver safer and more accessible walking, wheeling and cycling routes across England’s rural communities”.
National Policy Statement for Renewable Energy Infrastructure
There is a useful section on public rights of way in the National Policy Statement for Renewable Energy Infrastructure. A new edition came into force in January 2026, in which paragraphs for ROW have moved so you may need to update any material relying on it.
Annual Update – chat groups
Informal chat groups of up to ten members will consider specific topics in two sessions at the Update. They are a chance to swap experiences, compare approaches, and hear how others are tackling similar issues. What do you want to discuss? Suggest topics.
Using AI for ROW-specific tasks
We are developing training for members on use of AI safely and effectively, and how to spot its use by others. Please add your experiences and thoughts on how you would like to use it on the forum.
